San Telmo

The habitat of many artists, antique vendors, and the home of art galleries, this area has narrow cobblestone streets lined with many trees and colonial buildings. ( adorned with iron bars ) If you visit Colonel Manuel Dorrego Park on the weekends, you'll find the antique fair there (Sundays from 10am to 7pm ), as well as marvelous and spectacular tango dancers. Everywhere you look in San Telmo, you can see French, English and Nouveau Art styled buildings, which house art studios.

San Telmo San Telmo

This area was previously inhabited by the wealthiest families of the Argentinean society at that moment, who in 1871 were forced to flee to the northern areas of the city due to the yellow fever epidemic. In time San Telmo transformed into its present day look. You may also find the Russian Orthodox Church (1904) and the Pasaje de la Defense, a typical 19 th century colonial mansion.
