Recoleta

With its French and aristocratic style, this section is one of the most expensive in the city. Recoleta is the best example of the Argentine High Life filled with art, luxury, culture and fine cuisine.
Plaza Francia (France Park) This is a big park surrounded  by enormous and beautiful trees, where on the weekends you can enjoy free open air shows, and browse around the handicraft fair.
Nearby there are plenty of elegant restaurants, coffee shops, discos and a cinema complex.
Right in front of it you'll find the world famous Recoleta Cemetary (at Junin and Quintana) founded in 1822 by the Recoletas Monks. It's well known for the Architecture of its mausoleums.

Recoleta Paseo del Pilar
La Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar: at 1892 Junin St.
Built by the Jesuits, it's one of the oldest of its kind in Buenos Aires. The architect Giovanni Andrea Bianchi, who also designed the Cabildo, was in charge of the project.
Recoleta El Centro Cultural Recoleta: at 1930 Junin St. -
First a convent was built in 1732 by the Recoletas monks. Later on in 1886 it became a senior citizen rest home. Finally, in 1979, it was transformed into a cultural center, named Shopping Design , and is now an important design and furniture center.
El Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes: Fine Art. Museum Located at 1473 del Libertador Avenue, it's one of the most important exhibition centers in the country. It has ten thousand works of art on display.
Palais De Glace: (Glass Palace)
Located at 1725 Posadas, this round building is a National Exhibition Hall..
Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo: 1902 Libertador Ave.Originally a private mansion in the neo-classic style, it was acquired by the government in 1937, and turned into a museum. Its collection includes Flemish tapestry, porcelain, ivory, silver, crystal and Baroque furniture.
