Palermo Viejo, ( or Old Palermo ) was at one time the “ malevos” and compadritos”( or gangsters and low class snobs ) and poets such as Evanisto Carriego y Jorge Luis Borges, and a refuge of the Tango, when it was considered sinful. Nowadays it's an upscale neighborhood adopted by the youth. It is called Villa Freud (Freud village) because several psychologists practice there. It maintains a Bohemian atmosphere, which makes it particularly interesting. You'll also find bookshops and restaurants which are crowded all day long. |
