Centro / Congreso

It's primarily a financial and commercial area with many banks, offices, shopping malls and hotels. There are also the famous Catalinas Towers located in the midst of Cordoba, Madero, Alem and San Martin Avenues. Right near there is the well known Florida Street, a pedestrian street that began in 1968. There you can visit the Galarias Pacific, a historical and elegant indoor shopping mall, where you will find top of the line products.

Corrientes Ave. is famous for its theaters, bookshops, pizzerias and coffee shops, which remain open till dawn.
On 9 de Julio Ave, ( the widest Ave. in the world ) you'll see the most typical Porteño landmark the Obelisco. You can also see the Colon Theater, one of the most important of its kind in the world..

Another important theater is the Cervantes, with its Spanish Renaissance style. Nearby is the Congreso section of the city, where the House of Representatives is located (on the corner of Callao and Rivadavia Avenues.
